Why Unions Matter
Unions give a voice to the more than 500,000 workers who protect and serve our communities for a stronger Kansas.
In state after state, it’s proven that when unions negotiate higher wages, better benefits, safety on the job, a voice on the job for working people it improves the quality of life for all workers. Unions strengthen the middle class with pensions so people can retire with respect and dignity. The stronger the unions are in a state, the stronger the middle class is in that state. There is a direct correlation between the strength of unions in the state and the condition of our economy, society, and life in our state. America was built by unions.
Don’t take our word for it. The research speaks for itself.

WKA is a union of unions. We are your neighbors, your coworkers, your family members, your friends. The people that volunteer in your community and raise money for charities. We coach your children’s sports teams and sit next to you in your places of faith. We give back to Kansas, just like you.
WHO ARE UNION MEMBERS
We are the people safely taking your children to and from school. Who are patrolling your neighborhoods to keep you protected. Who are making sure your drinking water is clean. Who are jumping into an ambulance to respond to an emergency in your home or in a loved one’s home. We rush towards the fire when everyone is fleeing the building. We are there for you on your worst days and your best days. We take care of you when you are sick and we cheer you on while you heal. We pave Kansas’s roads. We are tradesmen that literally build our state, one brick at a time, one nail at a time.
These 500,000 working kansans take their hard earned money and buy homes, investing in our neighborhoods. They pay taxes and they keep mom and pop shops on main street open because they shop locally. These are 3 dimensional people that contribute so much to our community.
